For our fourth installment in this new line of efficacious drinks based on Chinese herbology, we present the Jen Shen. For this potent cocktail housemade Ginseng-ice is muddled with ginger-infused vodka, lemon, lime and honey.

We have been experimenting with Ginseng in cocktails and infusions for years, but our new method of creating ginseng-ice extracts more of this powerful roots essence and active ingredients without the unpleasant earthy flavor.

Ginseng root is reputed to lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels, protect against stress, enhance strength and promote relaxation.

Koreans feed ginseng to race horses to enhance their performance on the track.

The origin of the word ginseng is Chinese: "Jen Shen" means "The power of earth in human shape". Ginseng has been the source of a number ancient legends. Today, the stimulating effect of ginseng is still believed to restore inner strength. In China the plant is still known as the "man root", in Korea as the "root of life" or "human root", and in Japan it is held in such high regard that it is called "wonder of the universe". The active substances enter the blood stream and are distributed throughout the body and are thus able to exert a beneficial action on the whole organism.

We introduced Eternal Youth with potent Goji berries, and Shaman's Gift with Hawaiian Kava Kava, and Royal Fire with stimulating Schizandra, as part of this new series of efficacious drinks based on chinese herbology. Click on the drink names to learn more about these new offerings.
